John Adema, age 76, passed away at home in Sun City, Arizona on Tuesday, January 31, 2006.

John was born in Pease, Minnesota on April 15, 1929.

Big John, John, Blue Eyes - whatever you called him, he always answered and was loved by everyone he met. John never had a coarse tone or a bad thing to say about anyone, all his being could contain was a proper love for all. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He had been married to Doris, of Princeton, Minnesota, and they had two daughters, Vicki Flynn of Zimmerman and Debbie Anderson of Bloomington, Minnesota. For the past 19 years he has been married to Toni (Desm) and has two step sons: Gene Spars of Farmington, Minnesota and Dennis Spars of Bakersfield, California. Together there is a total of twelve grandchildren who were in all and individually all points of light in John¹s eyes. Being in the Marine Corps for four years was the proudest time of his life. After his discharge in 1952 (as a Staff Sergeant) John was with the reserves at Camp Ripley for several years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW - Post 806 Past Post Commander, also a member of the American Legion for over 20 years. John was extremely proud of all of his service connections and the friends associated with the services. After the Marines, John had a plumbing shop with Don Stanley in Princeton for many years before working at Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company for 26 years as an insurance claims adjuster (this is where he met his current wife, Toni). As with all of his life, John was highly respected and found more lifetime friends while working this job. In 1997 the Milaca farm was sold and a move was made to Sun City, Arizona. Once again John picked up his plumbing tools and a paintbrush and worked doing plumbing and odd jobs around Sun City. He claimed that he enjoyed painting more than plumbing but no matter what he was doing, he was making more friends and earning the respect of everyone.

John made it known that he wanted no viewing or public funeral. Johnny wanted to leave this life as he lived it - with dignity and love.

He asked for a simple cremation with a final resting place in Milaca, Minnesota. This summer the sum of his requests will be met. Visit this person¹s Guest Book at www.dailynews-sun.com.
