Herbert Alva Sayre was born near Milan, MO, on December 7, 1911, to Mr. and Mrs. Ira Sayre, and departed this life at his home in Browning, MO, October 21, 1968, at the age of 56.

"Herb" lived most of his life in Sullivan County, and he was an industrious man and spent many years operating large machinery. He also served his country in World War II from April 8, 1943 to September 30, 1945 as a part of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Sayre was a member of the Browning Baptist Church and had a deep faith in God.

Herb was preceded in passing by his parents and a twin brother and sister as infants, (Leah Pearl and Lee Paul).

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home, a daughter, Sara Lynn, of the home, two sons, Dennis of the state of Maryland, Kenneth Neal, Browning, Missouri, a step-son, Randy Helms, Kansas City, MO., a step-daughter, Sharon Helms, Kirksville, MO. . . seven brothers and two sisters, Harold, Altimont, IL, Porter, Browning, MO, Seldon, Edward, Elmer and Helen Harris, Milan, MO, Elba, Unionville, MO, Earl Dean, Cameron, MO, and Dorothy Teeter, Liberty, MO.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Browning Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Kenneth Kelly and Rev. Lawrence Hammond.

Burial was made in the Mt. Olive cemetery, east of Milan, under the direction of the Wade Funeral Home.
