Betty Parkhurst

Betty Parkhurst, 77, of Eldon died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, in Osage Beach.

She was born June 4, 1927, in Miller County to Arlie Everett and Ida Mae
Johnston Whittle. On Aug. 25, 1945, she was married in Stockton, Calif.,
to James C. Parkhurst, who survives at the home.

Mrs. Parkhurst was owner/operator of a bail bonding company. She worked
for F. W. Woolworths and a canning company in Stockton, Calif. She also owned and operated a lunch stand at Bagnell Dam and a beauty shop in Aurora Springs.

Also surviving her are three daughters, Mary Ekstam, Shirley Hawk and Sharon Barnhart, all of Eldon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Larry Parkhurst, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
