GREAT GREAT GRANDSON OF REVOLUTIONARY WAR CAPTAIN JOHN GEORGE OVERMIRE

William never married. He lived with his parents until their deaths.

OBITUARY
William Overmier of 1155 West Cerro Gordo street, died suddenly while attending Sunday school at the First United Brethern church Sunday morning. Mr. Overmier was almost sixty eight years old. While working at the residence of his brother, T.G. Overmier, almost a year ago he fell and suffered an injury to his neck from which he never entirely recovered. He never complained but he never could hide the fact that he suffered intensely at times. Sunday morning he entered the church at which he was one of the most faithful attendants and pleasantly greeted those he met. He chatted pleasantly for a few minutes with Commissioner Harry Ruthrauff and Daniel Weidner and in answer to inquires to his health, he replied "I am feeling well, thank you." He sat down on a seat near the back of the church. A moment later Mr. Weidner noticed that Mr. Overmier's head had fallen over to one side and he called the attention of Mr. Ruthrauff. Together they carried Mr. Overmier to a class room and a physician was hurriedly summoned. The city lungmotor was also brought but all efforts to revive the stricken man were in vain. The body was removed to the Brintlinger and Sons undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. Coroner Leon Monson set the inquest for 9 o'clock Monday morning. Mr. Overmier was well known and well liked. He was born Feb 17, 1848. For a number of years he was actively engaged in farming in Christian county not far from Niantic and he had many friends in that vicinity. He retired seven years ago and moved to Decatur and since then has resided with his brother-in-law, R.E. Davidson at 1155 West Cerro Gordo street. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Anna Overmier of Blue Mound, T.G. Overmier of near Niantic, Levi Overmier of Sedalia, Mo., Lewis Overmier of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. C.A. Herman of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. R.E. Davidson of Decatur, Mrs. M.L. Harris of Spokane, Wash. and Frank Overmier of Hebron, Ne
