"On Tuesday afternoon of last week, the good wife of Col. T.W. Bell, of Eugene, passed beyond the shores of time. She was a most estimable lady, one whom everyone respected and loved. She was kind and patient, and bore her long and painful illness with Christian fortitude. For many years she had been a consistent member of the M.E. Church. She was a devoted and affectionate wife, a kind mother, and always had a pleasant word for everyone. In her death, the people of Eugene have lost a noble lady, the children a dear mother, and the husband a true and devoted companion." - Newport Hoosier State, Wednesday, April 29, 1891 (Obituary provided by Carolyn Schwab)
According to Carolyn, Malinda's birth year is questionable. She stated that Malinda was listed in the following census: 1850 - 1830; 1860 - 1828; 1870 - 1839; 1880 - 1846. Carolyn thought that her birth year was 1830.
