Elizabeth Hite, who died at 3 o'clock last Wednesday morning, was 86 years old on the 26th of last month. She had been a resident of the county between 55 and 60 years. She was the mother of 3 children, 2 daughters and a son as follows: David Bennett, who now resides at Fairbury, NE; Mrs. Hulda Barker of this place, and Malinda Bell, the deceased wife of Col. T.W. Bell. Mrs. Hite had made her home in Newport for many years, and for a long time had been in feeble health. Her remains were conveyed to Eugene on last Thursday morning and interred in the cemetery at that place, the expense of her funeral being borne by her grandson, Wils Bell, of Danville, IL, who had maintained and kindly cared for her for many years.
