George helped his father homestead 160 acres five miles east of Stillwater, OK, beginning April 1889, which took 5 years. While there he began and then graduated in 1897 from Oklahoma A and M College at Stillwater, OK, in the second graduating class of 3 persons. He worked for the Frisco Railroad as a conductor from Jan 1901 to May 1943 while living in Enid, OK. In the spring of 1919 they moved to 424 W Wabash St, close to Enid high school. His three daughters all graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
