DEATHS AND FUNERALS
Mrs. Mary L Bowers, 85, died in Harper, Kan., January 11, 1932, death coming at the home of Mrs. Bowers' oldest grandson whom she had gone to visit four months ago. Her home in Stillwater, Ok., was at 1209 Duck street.
Funeral services were held in Strode Funeral home January 13 at 2 o'clock p.m., the Rev. Virgil G. Nalley, First Christian church, officiating. Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery beside the body of the decedent's husband, Wesley Bowers, who preceded her in death in 1901.
Mary L. Cox was born in McLean, Ill., April 20, 1846. She was married to Wesley Bowers January 15, 1860, at Kappa, Ill. The family came to Oklahoma on April 22, 1889, making the run and locating on a claim five miles east of Stillwater, where they lived until 1900, when they moved to Stillwater. The husband died a year later.
Mrs. Bowers was the mother of ten children, five of whom are living. They are J.W. Bowers, Oakland, Calif.; U.G. Bowers, Neodosha, Kan.; G.W. Bowers, Enid; Mrs. L.O. Wilson, Sand Springs, and Mrs. I.C. Yeargin, Sapulpa. There are twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Bowers was a member of the First Christian church, Stillwater.
