Tombstone reads date of birth as 1848. The 1860 US Census list him as 10 years old. He is not listed (or born yet)with his parents on the 1850 Census making his birth year to be more like late 1850 or 1851 (Jefferson Co Ala).

On his death certificate from the Miss State Board of Health (Record No. 21-11694), it lists him as 74 years old with a birth date of 1847.

The death certificate says AD died on July 9, 1921 and was buried on July 10. It names his father Willis Cummins and mother Lucinda Turner. It names the birthplace of AD & his parents to be Ala. Also noted here, Hattie (2nd wife) spelled his name as: A.D. Cummings adding the "g" in Cummins.

Andrew Daniel Cummins fathered 20 Children - 15 by his 1st wife Julia (DIED 1909)and 5 more by his young wife Harriet Scoggins (Outlived him by 63 years - never remarried).

Child No. 1 was born October 11, 1876 and the last - No. 20 was born October 11, 1919. (same birthday as 1st).

AD was too young to join the CSA army, however "family lore" passed down is that at the age of 15 he went to Peachtree Creek, (Atlanta) GA to bring supplies to his father Willis and brother IM in the CSA calvary. While there, AD helped tend the horses. IM had injured his foot so he and Willis got permission to return home. AD, IM, and Willis returned to Miss together. (The war ended a short time later while they were still on leave at home in Miss.) AD had another brother, (Wm M) that was captured at Lookout Mountain TN and died short time after arriving at POW camp - Rock Island ILL. of pnuemonia.

AD moved from Attala Co to the "Cook Community" (Longview), Oktibbeha Co, abt Dec 1905 to land that he purchased from Geo. W Bostick. He was a farmer and land owner. His "cash crops were cotton, corn, sweet potatoes, goobers, pumpkins, and peas as well as a fine garden".

All of A D's children are linked to this memorial.
