Sarta (Junior) Baca, 69, passed away Jan. 8, 2003, in Morenci with his family by his side. Sarta was born in Morenci and made his living there as a professional butcher for the Phelps Dodge Mercantile Company.

He retired in 1999 after more than 30 years of service. He was very well known as a meat cutter throughout the community, especially during hunting season. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker and hanging out with his family and friends. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by two wives, Carmen Baca and Rita Baca. He is survived by his three children, Gary, Randy and Priscilla Baca, all of Morenci, and two grandchildren, Carmen Baca and Mariah Cisneros. His love and friendship will be greatly missed, but we know he has joined his family in heaven.
