Obituary

Mr. H.C. Vincent was born in Oberlin, Ohio, February 13, 1847. He enlisted in the civil war of 1861 serving his country well for two years and nine months. In 1867 he was married to Miss Alice Graves of Bangor, Mich., who survives him. To them were born nine children six girls and three boys, one boy dying in infancy. Seven of the children were with their mother at the bedside of their father at the time of his death. Ora, the eldest being in the west and unable to be present. Mr. Vincent joined the United Brethren church in 1880, came to Valley county Nebraska in 1881, and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1883. He died February 26, 1906, aged 59 years and thirteen days. After three weeks of intense suffering and patient waiting, the Lord took him home. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Wimberley and the deceased was laid at rest amid the lamentations of a host of friends in the Ord Cemetery.
