Rebecca Elizabeth DeVoss, widow, 78 years, 11 months, 10 days, born October 12, 1856 at the Island of Wou, England to James Wilson and Catherine Fughes, both born in England, died September 22, 1935 in Grant, Douglas Township, Montgomery County, Iowa of cardio vascular disease, John A. Liken, M.D., burial December 25, 1935 in Grant, Milford Cemetery, W. E. Gourley, Undertaker, Villisca.
Rebecca Elizabeth Wilson, the daughter of Miles and Catherine Wilson was born on the Isle of Man near the coast of England October 12, 1856 and passed away in her old home near Grant, Iowa on September 22, 1935 at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 10 days. At the age of 10 she came with her parents to Brooklyn, New York, living in that state till 1881 when she came to Iowa, where she was united in marriage to George W. DeVoss. Six children were born to this union, two died in infancy. The following survive their mother, Mrs. J. S. Strain of Page, North Dakota, Miles H. and Ralph W. of Villisca, Mrs. C. C. Bryson of Rosebud, Montana, also a step daughter, Mrs. Carrie Lee of Corning, twenty-eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. He husband passed away in 1908.
Mrs. DeVoss united with the M. E. Church in early childhood and had been a member at Grant for more than 30 years. She had lived on the same farm in Douglas township, Montgomery county for nearly 54 years.
Brief services were held at Wolfe's Funeral Home in Villisca Wednesday afternoun, conducted by Rev. Smith of Red Oak. a former pastor and family friend, followed by services at the M. E. Church in Grant, the Rev. F. Moore in charge. Interment was made Grant Cemetery.
