ANNA RUTH MCENTIRE DANNER

Anna Ruth McEntire Danner, 92 of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Murphysboro, Illinois, died Monday, September 27, 2010 in Bloomington, Indiana. Ruth was a native of Murphysboro, and was born October 14, 1917 to the late Charles Kelly and Anna Mariah (Jacobs) McEntire. She was united in marriage to Thomas Gilchrist, "Gil", Danner on June, 18 1933, in Murphysboro, Illinois. Gil preceded her in death on November 24, 1977. Ruth was later married to Paul Emery Davis in 1979. Paul preceded her in death in 1995. Ruth was a member of Christ Community Church in Murphysboro and was a Licensed Practical Nurse. Before her retirement from nursing, she was the Office Nurse at the office of Dr. James L. Crouse, M.D. in Carbondale, Illinois and later at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in the Obstetrics Department. During her lifetime Ruth reveled in the nurturing of infants from her earliest preteen age until her death. After 1941 and during World War II, Ruth was employed at the Ordnance Plant, Carbondale, Illinois supporting the war effort, and in the 1950s she was the bookkeeper for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Carmi, Illinois. Ruth was a devout Christian who loved her church and its people. While living in Carmi, Ruth served the Lord with her melodic singing voice as a member of the choir at First Baptist Church of Carmi. She also worked for a 2 year stint, in the Obstetrics Ward of Union County Hospital, Anna, Illinois.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters: Thomas Wayne Danner, (Norma), Cobden, Illinois, Carole Ruth Danner Johns, (Kent), Bloomington, Indiana, William McIntyre Danner, Martinez, Georgia, and Carmen Marie Danner, Jacksonville, Florida. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Katrina Parks Danner Renzaglia (Paul), Cobden, Illinois, Karen Elizabeth Danner, Cobden, Illinois, Heather Elise Frasier Spangler, Bloomington, Indiana, Brier Erin Frasier, and special friend Jo Stong, Bloomington, Indiana, Brek Danner Frasier, Indiana, Derk Adam Frasier, (Elisa), Bloomington, Indiana, Kyra Danner Lewis, (John), Simpsonville, South Carolina, Ryan Cameron Coulter, Portland, Oregon, Megan Alyssa Coulter Bynum, (Sherman), Bloomington, Indiana, and Megan's fiance, John R. Braboy, Louisville, Kentucky. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren.

Other family survivors are her step-children and their families: step-daughter, Martha Davis Phillis, (Charles), Peachtree City, Georgia, and step-son, Paul Thomas Davis (Barbara), Bloomington, Minnesota; four step-grandchildren, Ian Davis, Rebecca Davis, Emily Phillis, and Sarah Phillis Parker, (Tyson).

In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Dale Danner, (1957), Carmi, Illinois; two brothers, Earl Lester McIntyre, (1955), Jackson County, Illinois, and Charles Eugene McIntyre, (1996), Carbondale, Illinois; and one daughter-in-law, Janet Sprout Danner, (2007), the late wife of her son William.

Services were held Friday, October 1, 2010, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro with Dr. Philip Nordstrom of Christ Community Church officiating and interment at White County Memorial Cemetery, formerly known as Garden of Memories Cemetery, Carmi, Illinois.

Memorials were encouraged to be made to Christ Community Church, 473 West Harrison Road, Murphysboro, Illinois, 62966.
