Captain Jabez. Hobson was engaged in farming and lumbering and for many years was an officer in the State militia. He and his wife had 9 children, four of which were alive at this writing (1896). Sewell, Rebecca A., Ellen, and Jabez.
Sewell was born Mar. 20, 1815 and married twice. First wife was Martha Buzzell, sister of Dr. Jas M. Buzzell,who married Rebecca. Sewell and Martha had 5 children. Three living in 1896. Ethelinda, Elizabeth and Alma. His second wife was Ann Thompson, and they had one child, Sewell.
Ellen was born 1834. the wife of Ingalls Paine they had one child, Alice L. Ethelinda m. Gideon M. Tucker.
Jabez was born 1837. He married Eliza Smith and have three children, Lillian, William and Rebecca.
Rebecca attended the academy in Limerick and Parsonfield Seminary. In 1836 she married Dr. James M. Buzzell who was a prominent and skillful physician of Parsonsfield. Afterward he moved to Worcester for 2 yrs and worked at Eclectic Medical College. Then University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for about another 2 years. He
afterward removed to Worcester, Mass., remaining there two years as a professor in the Eclectic Medical College.
He went back to private practice in Gorham, Me. and then went to Portland and practiced till he died in 1892.
Dr. Rebecca became interested in medicine in her young years, and remained so into her later years. She always kept abreast of the latest findings. She practiced homepathy from 1870 in Gorham and the surrounding areas. She was a member of the Gorham Congregational Church. She was alive at the printing of the book(1896).
