Mrs. Beatrice Malicky, 26, resident of this city for three years, died at a local hospital at 6 a.m. Saturday. She resided at 599 Campus street. Mrs. Malicky, apparently recovering from an operation performed several days ago, was believed to be well on the way to recovery. She had planned to be removed to her home at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. She was apparently feeling well when her husband visited her at the hospital shortly before 6 o'clock prior to going to his work, but she was stricken suddenly after he had gone, and died with a few minutes. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Malicky was an instructor in the South Park elementary school, and was described by C.W. Bingman, superintendent of the district, as being a fine scholar and teacher. She was a graduate of Lamar college, being the first girl to be given a D.A.R. scholarship to that college. She later completed her education at Texas university. She taught throughout the last year, having resigned her position when she was married following the close of the last school term. Mrs. Malicky was a native of Pitkin, La. She was a member of the South Park Baptist church here. Surviving are her husband, Elmer Malicky; her mother, Mrs. J.H. Howell, both of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Carlin of Friendswood, Texas, and Mrs. J.B. Ellis of Baton Rouge, La., and five brothers, Avery and Carl of this city; J.C. of Longview, Conrad of High Island and Corbin of Friendswood. Funeral arrangements in charge of Roberts Undertaking company are incomplete.
