Anne Drozda Pickett, age 85, died peacefully and in the presence of family on September 14, 2010. She was the beloved wife of William Richard Pickett, who preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter and two sons; one sister; five grandsons, as well as a host of caring cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Alan Pickett, and her brothers and sisters John, Marie, Joe, Marge, and Helen. Anne will be greatly missed.
Born on March 9, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of John and Anna Drozda, Anne was first generation Slovak-American. Anne and Bill were wedded on September 16, 1942, and began a journey taking them to Boston, Florida, California, Washington, Alaska, and finally settling in Maryland. Upon retirement they crossed the continent once again, returning three years later to retire in Fairfield, Pennsylvania. Anne spent her final years at Grace House in Silver Spring, MD. Funeral Mass celebrated at Our Lady of Grace, Silver Spring, MD on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Private interment held at Arlington National Cemetery.
