MRS. HANS C. FOSS CALLED BY DEATH
CAME TO SANDPOINT IN 1906; FINAL RITES HELD HERE MONDAY AFTERNOON
Mrs. Hans C. Foss, an early-day resident of this city, passed away Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. N. Wallestad, at Wheelock, N.D.
Gunhild Helgeson was born in Norway, February 24th, and came to America at the age of 19 years, and was married in 1873 to Hans Foss in Whitewater, Wis. They lived for a while in Eau Claire, where their oldest son was born, then moved to Menomonie, where their other children were born, and the family remained for 32 years. In 1906, Mr. & Mrs. Foss and the younger children who were still at home, moved to Sandpoint. Mr. Foss passed away in Sandpoint in 1929. Mrs. Foss lived with her married children in this city until 1932, when she went to Wheelock, N.D. to spend the remainder of her life with her daughter, Mrs. John Wallestad.
She is survived by five daughters Mrs. Ella Ross of Kahlotus, Wash.; Mrs. [Ida} John Wallestad of Wheelock, N. D.; Mrs. [Selma] Sverre Haug of Everett, Wash; Mrs. [Mamie] Albert Peterson and Mrs. Helma Anderson of Sandpoint; seven sons, C.Henry of Manila, Philippine Islands; Christian of Robbinsdale, Minn.; P. Emil of Minneapolis, Minn.; Halden of Cushman, Ore.; Helmer of Sandpoint; George of Milwaukie, Ore., and Victor of Boise, Idaho; also one brother, Ole Helgeson of Prairie Far, Wis., 41 grandcildren and 15 great-granchildren.

Funeral Satuday.
Funeral services were conducted in Wheelock by Rev. Carl Nelson on Saturday, October 9th. Relatives present were Mr. & Mrs. John Wallestad and family of Wheelock; Emil Foss and daughter, Mildred, of Minneapolis, and Halden Foss of Cushman, Ore.
Mrs. Wallestad accompanied the body to Sandpoint, where funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by Rev. G. Gabrielsen, who used as his text the first verse of Psalm 118. Mrs. Gabrielson sang "O lyse Minder", a favorite song of Mrs. Foss, and Rev. and Mrs. Gabrielsen sang "There's Not a Friend Like the Lowly Jesus," and "In the Sweet By and By.
Pallbearers were Vernon Anderson, Harold Foss, Thor Larson, Otto Swanstrom, Charles Foss and Herschel Weaver.

Out of town relatives present were Mrs. Haug of Everett, Wash., Mrs. Wallestad of Wheelock, N.D., and Ione Wallestad of Moorhead, Minn., Eugene Wallestad of Minot and Orville Wallestad of Williston.; P. Emil Foss and daughter Mildred of Minneapolis, Minn.; Halden Foss of Cushman, Ore.
