Headline: Pneumonia Fatal To Aged Resident; Rites on Saturday.

A four day illness with pneumonia proved fatal to August Peter Karau, town of Pine River, whose death occurred at noon yesterday at the Holy Cross Hospital. Mr. Karau, who was born June 29, 1864 in Germany, was eighty-six years of age.

The deceased, a retired farmer, came to Lincoln County sixty-two years ago, His wife, Wilhelmina Paul, whom he married on April 22, 1889, passed away in March, 1918. His second marriage occurred on April 27, 1919 to Ida Geisler who survives.

Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Facklam of this city and Mrs. Herbert (Ida) Gehrke of Manitowoc; four sons, Walter and Martin A. Karau of Pine River; John of Spencer; and Theodore of Stetsonville.

Five brothers also survive Mr. Karau. They are Carl, Gottlieb, Christ, and Hermann of Merrill and Albert of Pine River. Five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren also survive the pioneer Lincoln County resident.

Friends may call to pay their respects at the Taylor Funeral Home from Friday morning at ten o'clock until Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Mr. Karau will then be taken to St. Paul's church in Pine River to lie in state from noon until services at two o'clock. The Reverend Harold Krenz will officiate at the services and at gravesite rites in the church cemetery. Mr. Karau was a member of St. Paul's church and the affiliated Men's club. Preceding Mr. Karau in death were four sisters, Mrs. Auguste Hirsch, Mrs. Pauline Lembrecht, Mrs.. Hulda Lange, and Mrs. Caroline Pankow; three brothers, Gustav, Daniel and William Karau.
