RESIDENT HERE FOR 68 YEARS DIES AT EARLY HOUR TODAY
Herman Karau, 1403 River Street, who came here from his native Germany with his parents when he was five years of age, passed away at three o'clock this morning following a ten year illness. His condition had been considered serious for the past three years.
Mr. Karau will be in state at the Krueger Funeral Home from ten o'clock tomorrow morning until Thursday morning when he will be taken to St. Stephen's church at 11:30 o'clock to lie in state until the afternoon services at 1:30 o'clock. the Rev. W.W. Vogelmann will officiate and burial will be at Merrill Memorial Park.
The deceased was born May 31, 1979 in Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Chris Karau who immigrated to the this country and to Pine River in 1884. he followed the occupation ILLEGIBLE WORDS entered the logging business. His marriage to Bertha Buck occurred October 7, 1908 of Pine River. She passed away June 25, 1942.
Mr. Karau who was seventy three years of age is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) Volkman and Mrs. Emil (Lauretta) Wengeler, both of Merrill, two sons, Esrva and Sylas Karau, both of Merrill; two brothers, Gottlieb Karau of Merrill and Albert Karau of Pine River, also 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and four sisters.
