Funeral services for Vera Pauline Weldy, age 73, of Roswell, will be held at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 3, with Minister Jim Lindenberger officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park, with arrangements under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
Weldy was born on July 7, 1924 in Prairieview, N.M., and died on September 30, 1997, at Roswell Nursing Center. She married William Edward Weldy in Portales NM on July 16, 1942, and they moved to Hobbs in 1952.
Weldy is survived by her husband, William, of the home in Roswell; son Bobby Weldy of Amarillo; daughters Marcella Ellul and Cathey Cline, both of Hobbs, and Karla Isaacs of Chandler, Ariz.; brother Monroe Coggin of Fresno, Calif.; sisters Frances Hoover of White Settlement, Texas, Lora Ayers of Madison, Ala.; and Shirley Borges of Riverside Calif; eleven grandchildren, and three great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Inez Coggin, sister Pearline May, and son Cecil Edward Weldy.
Weldy will be in state at Griffin Funeral Home Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
