Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, East Moline. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made for breast cancer research. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is handling arrangements.
Marjorie Starr was born on Sept. 13, 1931, in Farmington, Iowa, a daughter of Leroy "Roy" and Gertrude Leffler Starr. She married John C. Bruggeman on July 11, 1953, in Chicago.
She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Davenport. Marjorie worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke's and was nursery supervisor. She also worked for Dr. Joseph Carnahan, Rock Island, and Dr. Waddell, Moline.
Marjorie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, East Moline, and served as a member of the church's relief society. She loved to spend time with her family, fish, camp, and do flea markets.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Carl Bruggeman, Moline, David Bruggeman, Matherville, Beth Norris, Minooka, Ill., and Marc Bruggeman, Oakdale, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and sisters and brother, Grace Dorbeck, Moline, Roy Starr, Acme, Pa., and Helen Holland, Freeport, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents.
