Robert G. Ault, 86, of Spraytown died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

He was born April 9, 1921, in Jackson County, Ind., the son of Orville O. and Emma Thompson Ault. He married Rosemary Cole on Aug. 7, 1944, in Seymour, Ind.

Mr. Ault served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, spending time stationed in Alaska. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.

He was a lover of all sports and especially enjoyed following the Pacers and the Colts. Mr. Ault enjoyed spending time with his family, which included his children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a self employed farmer, beginning his farming career with his father and brothers, and in later years farmed with his sons and grandson. He also had a trucking business with his brother Chub for many years and drove a school bus for Freetown and Brownstown school systems.

Mr. Ault was affiliated with Spraytown Free Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a daughter, Pam (Jim) Taylor of Seymour; sons, Gary (Jimmie Lou) Ault of Seymour, Monte R. (Vickie) Ault of Brownstown, Dennis L. (Carol) Ault of Seymour, and Thomas G. (Terry) Ault of Freetown; grandchildren, Jodi (Tom) Conner of Lawrenceburg, Robyne Ault of Indianapolis, Amanda (John) Wetzel of Brownstown, Diana, (Jason) Clampitt of Seymour, Leah (Brian) Branaman of Brownstown, Rachel Fultz of Brownstown, Robbie (Tori) Ault of Seymour, Kirsten Ault of Medora and Clayton Ault of Freetown; great-grandchildren, Hanna Wetzel, Tyler Wetzel, Hunter Clampitt, Maryne Lucille Conner, Logan Ault, Morgan Branaman, Ethan Fultz, Emilee Ault and Jaxson Johnson; a sister, Alberta Abrell of Muncie; and brothers, Jerry Ault and Donald Ault, both of Columbus, and Frank Ault of Freetown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant granddaughter, Monica Raye Ault; sisters, Theda Thompson, Opal Trisell, Elsie Scott and Patty Ray; and brothers, Eugene Ault, Howard "Chub" Ault, Hubert Ault and Leroy Ault.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel in Seymour with Rev. Kent Mingus officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Spraytown Cemetery, and military rites will be conducted by American Legion #89, V.F.W. #1925, D.A.V. #47 and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour.
