Chico Enterprise-Record, Thursday, March 3, 1960: "Martha Ramsey Ballard. Paradise (E-R)-Martha Ramsey Ballard died early this morning at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.
"Mrs. Ballard was a native of New Hampshire. She was 84 last Sept. 23.
"She came to Butte County 50 years ago from the East and lived in Chico for 10 years before moving to Stirling City where she and her husband lived for 30 years. During the last ten years Mrs. Ballard had lived here.
"Mrs. Ballard was a member of the Josephine Chapter of Eastern Star in Chico.
"Survivors include one son W.D. Bagley, of Paradise. Mr. Ballard preceded her in death in 1948.
"Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Paradise Chapel of the Pines. Burial will follow in the Masonic plot in the Chico Cemetery."-all research by Carolyn Hackett Dowd.
