Funeral services for long time Tillman County resident Florence G. Barnett were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9, in Gish Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Wyatt, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Schofield Cemetery under the direction of Gish Funeral Home
Mrs. Barnett passed away March 7, 1991, following a prolonged illness. She was 81.
She was born Sept. 13, 1909, to Albert V. and Daisy (Hamilton) Goodknight. She married Jesse Hale in 1934 at Dallas, Texas. She later married Frank S. Barnett at Hollister on April 7, 1940. He preceded her in death March 17, 1977.
Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Zinnia Garden Club, Farm Womens Club, and charter member of the Tillman County Historical Society.
Survivors include four sons, Roger Frank Barnett and Judge David Austin Barnett, both of Frederick, James Albert Barnett of Oklahoma City and Stanley William Barnett of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Janet Nicks of Durant; a step-daughter, Wilma Jean Sykes of Burkburnett, Texas; two brothers, Howard Goodknight of Davidson and Arthur Goodknight of Frederick; one sister, Lucile Phelps of Manitou; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
