Dewalt--Mrs. Rebecca Dewalt, sister of our fellow townsman, J. C. Kinney died of consumption, Sunday evening June 2nd 1889, at the home of Miss Rebecca McCune in this city, aged about 31 years.
Deceased had been in poor health of a year or more, and the announcement of her death was not a surprise. She was a member of the Hitt Baptist Church at the time of her death, but had professed religion and held a membership in another church before coming to Scotland county. Her life was exceptionally pure and spotless, and her death, sad as it may seem to relatives and friends, is simply a translation from a world of pain and affliction to a realm where afflictions are unknown. The remains were taken to Richland Church on Tuesday where Rev. hatton preached the funeral, after which the body were laid to rest in the church cemetery.
