Mary "Mollie" Elizabeth Bingham was the daughter of Elijah Arnold Bingham and Mary Elizabeth Smith. It was said her mother was part Choctaw Indian, though this may be a myth as no evidence has turned up to support it. Her father was a red-headed Irishman. Mollie had thick dark hair according to her children, and was considered exceptionally pretty.

Mollie married Willis Saams Slaton on Jan. 31, 1884 in Pecan Gap, Delta Co., TX.

Mollie and Willis had seven surviving children, and several more who died in infancy. Mollie's last pregnancy was difficult, and both she and the twin girls she carried died in childbirth. She was 31 yr. old when she died August 17, 1901.

Their children were:
Jesse Edmon "Edd" Slaton, b. Sept. 3, 1886 in TX, d. Dec. 28, 1932 in Callisburg, TX.
