Miss Mary Alice Simmons died at her home on Mill Creek Monday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks. She was the daughter of the late Dr and Mr J K Simmons and a niece of the late Judge Simmons of Fincastle.
She is survived by three brothers; Tucker McGuire Simmons, of Mill Creek; with whom she made her home at the old ancestral home. Walter Simmons, Roanoke; and Harry Simmons, Monroe Ala.
She was a member of the Buchanan Presbyterian Church, and was actively engaged in church affairs, garden clubs and other activities for better living.
funeral services were held at the home Wednesday at 10 am, conducted by the Rev N M Faulenner (?), her pastor, assisted by Dr Geo. Braxton Taylor of Hollins.
Burial was at Amsterdam
Active pallbearers were: John Logan, Baxter Logan, A K Simmons, Francis Simmons, A W Obenshain and Robert Spessard.
Honorary pallbearers were Turner McDowell, Judge Ben Haden, B P Obenshain, John Kelly, C L sifford, J C dill, Dr E M Maxwell, Max Brugh and Kone(?) Brugh.
