Services for Flora A. DeWitt,96 of 117 Lee Ave.,Apt.P-3, will be at 1pm Thursday in the chapel of Chriss Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard W. Hurdiss officiating Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cem..
Mrs. DeWitt died Monday afternoon in the Heath Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 9, 1890 in Muskinghum Co. to the late George and Olive Cass. She lived in Newark over 85 years; was the former owner and operator of restaurants in Newark in the late 1930s; and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Her first husband, Thomas Caldwell and her second husband, Charles F. DeWitt, both preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Olive Baker of Newark; six g children; 14 gr grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. One son, two sisters, six brothers and one gr granddaughter are deceased. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday in the funeral home.
Tribute: Among the survivors of Mrs. Flora DeWitt are her six Grandchildren; Jay Phil Baker, Mrs. Linda Swank, both of Newark, Mrs.John (Sharon) Becker, Mrs. Harry (Marilyn) Graul of St. Louisville, Mrs. Roger (Carolyn) Frucchte of Michigan and Thomas Caldwell of Wisconsin.
Mrs. DeWitt was also preceded in death by one son, Rowland "Bud" Caldwell Newark Adv.
