Howard Max "Pete" Durrant, 60, died Oct. 27, 1993 in Salt Lake City.
He was born Jan. 31, 1933 in American Fork to Sterling and Emma Pearl Gray Durrant. He married Shirley Halley. They were later divorced.
He worked for Geneva Steel for 25 years, was a veteran of the Korean War, having served four years in the Navy. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved chopping wood and telling stories. He enjoyed his children.
He is survived by four sons and a daughter: Steven A. Meryhew, Tempe, Ariz; Donald Meryhew, Meridian, Idaho; Russell Durrant, Pasco, Wash; Tony Meryhew and Mrs. Robert (Madonna) Proctor, both of American Fork; 21 grandchildren; three sisters: Nelda Kelly, American Fork; Marilyn Nelson, Pleasant Grove; Colleen Lawson, Bakersfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by a son, Ron Meryhew.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, in the American Fork 18th Ward Chapel. Burial was in the American Fork City Cemetery with military rites by VFW District Four.
