BOONVILLE -- Revis Allen Campbell, a lifelong Warrick County resident, passed away Friday, July 18, 2003, at 105 years of age. He was born December 9, 1897, the third of eight children, to his parents, Effie Elizabeth Campbell (maiden name was Campbell) and Daniel V. Campbell. His youngest brother, Harlan Campbell, and family of Warrick County survives him.

He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Nancy Campbell of Warrick County, who have assisted in his care in recent years, and their children and grandchildren, Susan and Edward Frise and daughter, Lauren, of Evansville, Indiana, Stephen and Connie Campbell and daughters, Meredith and Caroline, of Newburgh, Indiana, and Sara and Mark Dillman of California.

His wife of 64 years, Sarah Gertrude Campbell, preceded him in death in June of 1984, at age 85. The two of them owned and operated Campbell's Shoe Repair Shop in Boonville, Indiana, from 1936 until retirement in 1982.
Revis and Gertrude enjoyed many hobbies during their 64 years together, including landscape gardening at their early home in the Warrick County community of Eby, north of Boonville.

Revis also enjoyed sound motion pictures, audio recording, archaeology and various photographic hobbies. In the late 1940s, he built a movie theater in the basement of his home in Boonville, where he had weekly showings of full-length feature movies for his family and friends.

His life spans a period from "horse and buggy days" to space flights to other planets and moons!

He was elected and served as a Boonville city councilman for at least eight years; he was a captain in the Boonville Auxiliary Police; he served as a special deputy sheriff under Sheriff Jeff Gore; and always participated in community activities. He was a charter member of the Boonville Lions Club and an honorary lifetime member.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church in Boonville, or the Visiting Nurse Association, 610 East Walnut Street, Evansville, Indiana 47706.
