Rolla Stober Dies
Funeral ServicesHeld Tuesday
Rolla Stober, 67, who until a few months ago had made his home in Moulton, died at Alden, Iowa, Sunday. Mr. Stober had been ill for the past two years and had just recently been a patient in the Veterans Hospital at Des Moines. Death was due to a heart attack.Rolla Jette Stober, son of Philip and Harriet Atwell Stober, was born March 26, 1889, and departed this life March 4, 1956, at Alden, Iowa, at the home of his brother, Clarence, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 7 days. He was educated in the rural schools near Moulton. He was baptised at the Liberty Church near Stober Springs and attended church there. His grandfather donated the land on which the church stood. As a young man he went to northern Iowa and worked on farms. Later he owned a bakery at Dolin, S. D., and a grocery store at Peoria, ILL. He was enlisted in the army on March 17, 1918, and later served with the A. E. F. He returned to this country on August 6, 1919; and was discharged three days later. He was a member of Burl McClure Post, A. L. A., at Moulton. He leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rown, of Peoria, ILL., and Mrs. Earl Howk, of Bloomfield; four brothers, Claude, of Wallingford; Lee, of Thornton; Carl, of Gallup, N. M., and Clarence, of Alden, besides a number of nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Moulton, Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Melvin Robey, pastor of the Centerville Church of God (Holness) in charge. Full military rites were accorded the deceased by members of the Moulton Legion Post. Burial was in Stober cemetery southeast of Moulton.
