Paul C. Amspacher

Paul C. Amspacher, 79, of 276 Oxford Ave., McSherrystown, formerly of 322 Third St., Hanover, died at 11 p.m. Friday, September 18, 1998, at his home. He was the husband of the late Miriam Wagner Amspacher, who died August 6, 1981.
Born in Hanover on November 1, 1918, he was the son of the late John Edwin and Emma Riffle Amspacher.
Mr. Amspacher retired from P. H. Glatfelter in 1981 after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Hanover Lodge No. 227, Harold H. Bair American Legion Post 14, Fraternal Order of Eagles Hanover AERIE 1406, Hanover Amvets, McSherrystown Fish & Game and the Irishtown Fire Co.
During World War II, he served as a corporal in the Army.
Surviving are a son, William P. Amspacher of Hanover; four grandchildren, Randy P. Amspacher of Abbottstown, Robin M. Smith of Hanover, Lisa A. Holniker of Eldersburg, Md., Luann L. Garland of Hanover; 10 great-grandchildren, Amber Smith, Alex Smith and Adam Smith, all of Hanover, Tiffany Amspacher, Justin Amspacher, Tabitha Amspacher and Julia Amspacher, all of Abbottstown, Victoria Holniker of Eldersburg, Md., and Hannah Garland and Caleb Garland, both of Hanover; a brother, Edwin Amspacher of Shrewsbury; a sister, Myrtle Bair of Hanover, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Viewing will be Monday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Marburg Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Frederick A. Diehl, pastor of Christ United Church of Christ, will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Council of Hanover.
