BURIAL OF JUDGE THOMAS
The funeral of Judge J. C. Thomas took place this forenoon from the family residence, on the corner of Hardy street and Liberty avenue, in the Fifth ward. Deceased was 75 years old. He left behind him a wife and three children. The funeral was largely attended, the judge in his lifetime having been very popular with all classes of citizens. During his aldermanic and street commissioner career he did good service for Houston.

John's headstone was placed in his honor in 2014 by his descendants; his great granddaughter, Ricky Kathleen Leverton Bownds and his 2x great grandchildren and his 3x great grandchildren.
