Jane was born the oldest child born to Judge John Thomas and his wife, Menicy (Sheppard) Thomas.

Jane's maternal grandparents:
Margaret Cox (1775-1822)

Jane married John Leverton 6 July 1869 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. My little German grandmother was Jane's daughter-in-law and she said she admired her mother-in-law and said she was a fine Christian woman.
