Care, Tipton Hospital. Born Sept 30,1911, in Tipton County, he was the son of Frank and Alma (Ashpaugh) Underwood, On Oct 15, 1931, he married Cloda C. Vair, who died May 6,1995.
He was a farmer and also worked at Stellite and Perfect Circle Corporation. He was also a school bus driver for Sharpsville Schools for several years. He lived most of his life in Tipton County. He was a member of the former
Hopewell Methodist Church; charter member of the Sharpsville
Lions Club; member of the Tipton Elks, Tipton Moose, Elwood Eagles and the Tipton County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Republican Party and was very interested in politics. He loved sports, especially basketball. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean and William Malone, Kempton; Wilma Lou and Myron Bowlby, Tipton; Sharlot and Frank Spaulding, Sharpsville; Sharon and Jerry Ogle, Cicero; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwaine 0. and Margo Underwood, Sharpsville; a half-brother, Ralph Bozell, Kokomo; five grandchildren, Brad, Brian and Bart Bowlby;
Sara Underwood; Ryan Spaulding; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas Ogle and Stephanie White; a great granddaughter,
Stacy Bowlby; step-great-grandchildren, Patty McNew; Jesse and Shannon Issac; Jessica and Christopher James and Tara Kay McNew. He was preceded in death by a brother, sister, three half-brothers and three half-sisters. Services are 10 am. Saturday at Leatherman-Morris-Boyer Funeral Home, 314 N. Main St, Tipton. The Rev. Harold Barnett will officiate.
Burial will be in Sharpsville Cemetery, Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the America Heart Association.
