Melody Ann Schmitt, 41, of 84 River View Road, Kiel died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Milwaukee.
She is the former Melody Ann Dietrich born July 9, 1956 in Sheboygan daughter of Beatie Kretsch Dietrich-Pritzl and the late Norbert Dietrich.She attended SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Grade School and was a 1974 graduate of Kiel High School. Melody attended UW – Oshkosh, with a B.S. in elementary education with dual certifications in learning disabilities and mental retardation.
On April 12, 1991, she married John Schmitt at Trinity Lutheran Church Kiel. Melody currently was a Special Education teacher (learning disabilities) at New Holstein Elementary School, teaching grades 4-8, the past 12 years.
Melody enjoyed traveling, reading, music, her family and friends.
She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel and Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel, where she was a former religious special education teacher. She also was a member of the National, Wisconsin and new Holstein Education Associations and a member of the New Holstein Elementary PTA.
Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Caleb, age 4, Joshua, age 1; mother and step-father, Beatie Dietrich-Pritzl and Cal Pritzl, Kiel; two brothers, Daniel Dietrich, Kiel; Dean (Kay) Dietrich, Kiel. She was preceded in death by her father, Norbert in 1987.
Funeral Mass will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Loren Nys, S.D.S., officiating. Burial will be in Kiel City Cemetery.
