Amzi left New York with his father Luther in 1816 to find land in Illinois. Amzi's mother Mary Hazeltine Doolittle stayed in Little Valley, New York. Luther and his son Amzi were in Illinois from 1816 until Luther was reported to be dead on August 25, 1821. Amzi stayed in Illinois. See Note section below.

His second wife's maiden name was Welch. She was the daughter of James Fleming Welch and Elizabeth Lollar Perkins. On 31 Aug 1837 she married Moses J Wallace in Illinois. I don't know if Moses died or they divorced. Sarah Welch was my 3rd great aunt. (March 20, 2017)
