Addison Dudley Adams, son of Platt and Clarissa (DUDLEY) Adams, was born in Durham, Greene county. He received his elementary education in the public schools of his native town, and on finishing his school work moved to Oxford and
engaged in mercantile business in the Fort Hill block. After remaining here a few years he removed in 1839 to Greene, where he conducted a general dry goods business. He married Mary, daughter of John and Mary (WELCH) PERRY of Oxford. Mr. Adams held the position of supervisor of the town of Greene for several terms. His death occurred in 1878. Mrs. Adams died January 27, 1905.
