Funeral services were held yesterday (Thursday) for Mrs. Marvin Kanis, 53, who died at Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo Tuesday morning The Rev. Don Griffin officiated at the 2 p. m. services in the Grace United Methodist church at Dysart. Burial was in the Buckingham cemetery near Traer. Pall bearers were Ernest Mask, Keith Messer, Herbert Hark, Ray Hoeppner, Glenn Hook and Milo Degner, Mrs. Ruth Kavalier and Mrs. Shirley Linthacum were vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Bernice Barnes.
Nadine Karr was born in Tama county near Traer March 5, 1915, the daughter of Roy and Bertha Coleman Karr. She was one of a family of seven children. She was married to Marvin Kanis at the Geneseo parsonage June 13, 1934. They lived all of their married life in the Dysart and Traer vicinities. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist church in Dysart. Mrs. Kanis is survived by her husband, Marvin; her father, Roy Karr of Dysart; one sister, Mrs. Roger Nation of Traer; four brothers, Cleone of Evansdale; Raymond of Vinton, Dale of Anoka, Minnesota, and Merle of Dysart. Mrs. Kanis was preceded in death by one brother, Darrel Karr of Traer.
