DR. W.A. BLAIR DIES SUDDENLY TUESDAY AT BROOKLYN HOME
PROMINENT PHYSICIAN SUCCUMBS FROM HEART TROUBLE; BURIED WEDNESDAY

Dr. W.A. Blair of Brooklyn is dead at the age of 45; he died at his home at an
early hour Tuesday morning, a few hours after making a call to see a sick
patient. He had been a sufferer of heart trouble for some time but his condition
was looked upon as fair and his death was a severe shock to the entire Brooklyn
community where he was popular and where he enjoyed a large practice. Dr. Blair
often visited Andalusia where he brought many of his patients to a local
hospital and he had many admiring friends here who deeply regretted to learn of
his untimely demise.

His remains were laid to rest in the Brooklyn cemetery Wednesday morning, the
writer being among those who attended from Andalusia. The funeral services were
conducted in the Baptist church and it was packed far beyond its seating
capacity with perhaps a hundred outside. The large congregation and the many
beautiful floral offerings was an attestation of the high esteem in which the
deceased was held by citizens of Conecuh and Covington counties where he was
best known.
The deceased was a native of Herbert in Conecuh County and many from that place
as well as Evergreen attended the burial. Andalusia, Red Level and other
sections of Covington County was well represented at the funeral. It was said to
be one of the largest attended funerals ever held in the little town of
Brooklyn.

The deceased is survived by a wife and three sons and one daughter, all of whom
were with him when the end came. The children are W.A., Jr., Howard and Marcus;
daughter, Miss Ruth Blair. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. W.M. Blair of
West Palm Beach, Fla. who was unable to attend the funeral.

The pallbearers were R.N. McLeod and Dr. L.B. Underwood, Andalusia; P.W. Shaver,
Herbert; Hub Snowden, Joe Snowden, Dr. U.L. Jones, H.H. Sanders and Hugh Rabren,
all of Brooklyn.
