John Tobias Holsinger
John Tobias Holsinger, son of Alexander and Sarah Holsinger, was born near Forreston, Illinois, February 19, 1867, and departed this life March 11, 1949, at the age of 82 years, 22 days.
He came with his parents to Shickley, Nebraska, at the age of six years. He with his parents resided on a farm 3 1/2 miles southeast of Shickley for several years, so his early life was spent in that vicinity.
He was married to Nancy Ellen Parch in 1898. To this union was born one daughter.
Mr. Holsinger moved to Edgar, Nebraska, in 1902, where he lived until his death.
His wife preceded him in death March 4, 1923.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers.
Those who survive him are, one daughter, Mrs. Eva Johnson of Wymore, Nebraska; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Cora Caldwell of Wymore, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Franklin of Carleton, Nebraska, and George of Lindsay, California.
John was of a jovial nature and enjoyed his visits with his many friends in Edgar who will miss him.
For a number of years he and his nephew, Bert VanBuren, have made their home in south Edgar.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, 1949, at 2:00 p.m., at the McGhie Funeral Home with Rev. E. E. Smith in charge. Mrs. F. W. Hockman and Mrs. W. R. Jacobsen sang. Mrs. Earl Basey was at the piano.
Pallbearers were M. G. Springer, J. A. Overturf, E. E. Hockman, Will Culbertson, L. A. Lehms and Carl Eigenberg.
Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
