Mrs. Ann Brinson Alexander

Augusta, GA – Died Monday, November 1, 2010 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta, Ann Brinson Alexander, 88, wife of Dr. James L. Alexander, MD of Savannah (now deceased).

Ann Brinson Alexander was born September 8, 1922 in Millen, Ga. She graduated from Millen High School in 1939 and from University Hospital School of Nursing of Augusta in 1944. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps at Fort Jackson, SC. (December 1944-July 1945) and in Okinawa, Japan (August 1945-March 1946, 75 Station Hospital). In Okinawa Mrs. Alexander was promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to 1st Lieutenant in February of 1946. She married James L. Alexander in 1948, as he completed his residency in thoracic surgery. From 1952-2008 Mrs. Alexander lived in Savannah, where she worked at Memorial Medical Center OPD, was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a tour guide at the Green-Meldrin House. She moved from Savannah to Augusta (2008-2010). She had one son, James Locke Alexander (now deceased).

Family members include first cousins: Mary Brinson Fitts of Augusta, GA., John F. Brinson of Allentown, PA. and Philip W. Brinson of Aiken, SC.

Memorial services were held Saturday, November 13th at 11:00 AM. at St John's Church, Savannah, with Father Gavin Dunbar officiating. Mrs. Alexander was interred in the Brinson family portion of the Little Buckhead Cemetery, Millen, Ga.
