SANTA ROSA, TX.,—
Rodolfo Canales, Sr., 77, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on November 1, 2010. Born on April 20, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa. He served his country in the U.S. Army with loyalty and distinction and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1961. Known to his family and friends as "Ropo," he spent his humble life as a loading foreman working in the produce companies in the Rio Grande Valley, Pecos, Seminole, and Muleshoe, Texas.
He had a strong passion for life. He enjoyed playing the accordion with his brother, riding his favorite tractor on the weekends, and playing bingo with his wife. He would often spend time at his property with his friends to chat and watch the cars go by. To him, the greatest joy in life was eating dinner with his family and grandchildren at Luby's in Harlingen.
