A.M. TUNSTALL DIES AT HOME IN GREENSBORO
Famed Legislator From Hale County Succumbs to 2-Week Illness

GREENSBORO, Ala., -- May 29. (U.P.) -- Funeral services will be held here tomorrow for Alfred M. Tunstall, 71, former Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives who died here last night.

Tunstall became ill in Montgomery two weeks ago and did not recover. He was serving as a member of the House from Hale County when stricken. He was brought here from the capital Monday.

He had served as a member of the Legislature almost continuously since 1896. He served three terms as Speaker of the House. He was Speaker Pro Tem in the session of 1900-1901, elected after the death of Francis L. Pettus. He was elected Speaker in 1903 and 1931.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Cobbs and Tunstall Cobbs were in Greensboro today for the funeral of Colonel Alfred Moore Tunstall, Mrs. Cobb's brother.

Colonel Tunstall was also a brother of the late Wiley O. Tunstall, former solicitor for Calhoun County and former state Senator from the county.

Col. Alfred Moore TUNSTALL, one of the outstanding members of Alabama's legislatures for more than 30 years, passed away at his home in Greensboro Tuesady night, following a two weeks illness... He was 71 years of age and the infirmities of age had begun to tell on the veteran legislator... He represented Hale County in the House of Representatives nine terms during two of which he was speaker and in another was speaker pro tem, and served one term as a member of the State Senate. Funeral services will be held today from St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greensboro, with burial in the Greensboro Cemetery.
