Lonoke - A J Pounders, 78, of Lonoke died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002. He was born June 20, 1923, in Malvern, Arkansas, to Thomas J. and Mattie E. Pounders. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty J. Mosley Pounders; two daughters, Patsy (Jim) Goode of Cabot and Beth (Danny) Wright of Lonoke; one son, Jay (Debbie) Pounders of Springdale; four grandchildren, Mike (Christy) Pounders of Springdale, Randy (Sarah) Pounders of Springdale, Rachelle Wright of Lonoke and Katy Wright of North Little Rock; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Morgan, and Brock Pounders of Springdale. He served with the 82nd Seabees during WWII and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 40 years of service. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Saturday at Lonoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Nicholas Lascaro and Dr. Jeff Pounders officiating. Burial will be in Lonoke Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Friday at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke. Pallbearers will be Robert Glover, James Nix, John Ross, Phillip Wayne Smith and Charlie Travis. Memorials may be made to Lonoke First United Methodist church Building Fund.
