Mrs. Elizabeth "Babe" Gellenbeck was born in Carrington, N.D. in 1917 To August and Anna Gellenbeck. She married Gordon Hilt in 1937. She was a member of the Wabash Gospel Center Church.

Surviving with her husband are three son, Gene, Donald Leroy, and John Allen, and four daughters, Patricia Ann, Anita Marie, Lana June and Diana Kay. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Anna Gellenbeck of Rt. 8, five sisters, Mrs. Mamie (Willis) Myers of Carrington, N.D., Mrs. Tillie (John) VanMeter of Darlington, Mrs. Alice (Wilbur) Pence of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Ila (Arthur) Segal and Mrs. Dorothy (Isaiah) Flack both of Lafayette and four brothers, Harry Gellenbeck of Indianapolis, and Oscar (Ruth), Louis (Evelyn), and Hugh (Aldine) all of Lafayette

Mrs. Hilt passed away in an airplane crash with her son Larry Duane.
