Mrs. Anna B.(Dexter) Gellenbeck, 86, formerly of near Elston, died in Witham Hospital, Lebanon at 8:15 pm Wednesday after an illness of a month. She had been living in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Tillie VanMeter, at Colfax for a year. She left 132 descendents.

Born at Haarlem, Holland, she had lived in the United States since she was seven years old. Her family settled in North Dakota and she was married at Preston, Minn, in 1893 to August Carl Gellenbeck.

They moved to the Elston community in 1916 and Mr. Gellenbeck operated a gravel pit and a cement contracting business. Mr. Gellenbeck died in 1956.

Mrs. Gellenbeck attended the Lafayette Gospel Center Church.

Surviving are four sons, Harry of Indianapolis, Oscar and Louie of Lafayette, and Hugh of Lafayette, R 12; five daughters, Mrs. Mamie L. Myers of Carrington S.D., Mrs. Alice Pence of Fairdale, KY., Mrs. Arthur Segal and Mrs. Isaiah Flack of Lafayette R 13, and Mrs VanMeter; a brother, Francis Dexter of Circle, MT., and two sisters, Mrs. Theresa O'Connell of Glendale, CA., and Mrs. Ben Puckett of Renton, WA.

Friends may call at Hippensteel Funeral Home after 4 pm Friday. Services in Hippensteel chapel at 1 pm Saturday. Reverend John Miller officiating; Internment in Spring Vale cemetery.

Surviving are 43 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Anna and her family came to America in 1881 when she was 7 yrs. old. They migrated to Carrington, Foster Co., N.D. She married August Gellenbeck in Preston, Minn. in 1893 and they lived next door to her parents for 7 yrs.

In 1900 they moved to Carrington, Foster Co., N.D. where August had obtained a land grant for homesteading. They moved to Willow Springs, Kansas in 1905 and by 1910 were back in Carrington, North Dakota. Their final move was to Lafayette, Tippecanoe Co., IN. where she spent the remainder of her life.

There are at least seven generations of Gellenbecks now on her family tree.
