Ferry Curtis Hadlock

Ferry Curtis Hadlock died peacefully after a very brief illness on Saturday, Nov 9, 2002, in Boise.

He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Vernal, Utah, to Ferry LeRoy and Jennie Steele Hadlock. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, attended the University of Utah, and served a mission in the Central States Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On Aug. 10, 1942, he married Pearl Ellen Rider in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had five children. Ferry served in the Army during World War II as a pilot and navigator. He began his lifelong career with First Security Bank in Blackfoot, Idaho, and was branch manager in Shoshone and Rigby. He was active in the community affairs serving as Rotary president in Shoshone. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many positions including counselor and member of stake high councils.

His many hobbies have included sports of any kind, creating jewelry from fire opal he mined himself, biking, crocheting, painting pictures, composing music and supporting all high school athletics. He designed and built six homes in southeastern Idaho, and drafted hundreds of house plans for others.

As the golden years arrived, Ferry and Pearl lived in Ucon and Caldwell and served a second mission in North Carolina. Ferry loved road trips and took Pearl on several throughout the United States from Maine to Alaska. He loved to watch his grandchildren participate in athletic and talent events.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; and eldest son, Ferry Rider Hadlock.

Four of his children survive him, John C. Hadlock and wife, Mary of Salt Lake City, Utah; Brent L. Hadlock and wife, Christina of Provo Utah; Layne R.
