At the age of 14 years he with his parents moved to St. Edwards, Nebr. In 1892 he moved to Greeley county eight and one half miles north-east of Wolbach in the district known as Star. On November 28, 1896 he was united in marriage to Martha Ray of Greeley, Nebr., to this union four children were born.

The loss to his family is irreparable. His host of friends and the community will greatly miss him. Let us think that Edgar A. Guest has a man like Fred Nelson in mind when he wrote, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man."
