Della Hunt was born in 1884 in Sugar Loaf County, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory. She was the 14th child of Amanda Jane Caudell and John Austin Hunt. She grew up in what is now LeFlore County, Oklahoma, where she had been born.
In 1895, at about age 11, she moved with her parents and other family members to Hartshorne in Pittsburg County, Indian Territory. The 1900 census shows her at age 16 living in the household of her mother and father in Hartshorne.
Margaret Della Hunt, age 17, married first to W. M. Fowler, age 25, on November 18,1900 at Hartshorne, I.T. Her first child was born in Utah about 1906.
She married a second time in 1909: LeFlore County marriage records show that Mrs. Margaret Della Fowler married Coyle C. Gober on May 7, 1909 at Poteau, LeFlore County, Oklahoma. They were to have three daughters.
The Gober family lived in both LeFlore County and nearby Sequoyah County where they had a variety of small businesses.
Church records show that Margaret Della Gober joined the First Baptist Church of Wister, Oklahoma, on December 7, 1912; Coyle C. Gober joined that church by baptism on July 4, 1913.
Around 1936, Della lived for a while with the family of her brother John A. Hunt in Talihina, LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
